Public Safety Records Bureau

The City of River Rouge Public Safety Department Records Bureau is overseen by Director Sotirios Arapakis who is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information pertaining to the Public Safety Department. The River Rouge Public Safety Department Records Bureau handles the control and maintenance of all police and fire incident reports, accident reports, vehicle releases, fingerprints, gun purchase permits, gun registration, 30-day vehicle work permits, and records checks (clearances). The Records Bureau also offers notary public services for River Rouge residents. All fees for any records or services are to be paid with cash. The following is a list of duties/services carried out by the Records Bureau during normal business hours. Please note that certain services require scheduling an appointment with the Records Bureau personnel.

Accident Reports

Accident Reports are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The fee for an accident report is $10.00 per copy.

Incident Reports

Incident Reports are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The fee for an incident report is $10.00.

Fingerprints

Fingerprinting services are performed Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Those needing fingerprint services must make an appointment at (313)842-0069. The fee for fingerprinting is $100.00. In some circumstances, additional charges may apply.

Record Checks (Clearance)

Record Checks are performed on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The fee for a record check is $20.00.

Gun Purchase Permits

Gun Purchase Permits can be obtained on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Those needing a gun purchase permit must make an appointment at (313)842-0069. The fee for a gun purchase permit is $30.00 Resident/$40;00 Non-Resident.

30-Day Vehicle Work Permits

30-day vehicle work permits can be obtained on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Those needing a 30-day vehicle work permit must make an appointment at (313)842-0069. The fee for a 30-day vehicle work permit is $50.00.

Vehicle Releases

Vehicle releases are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The fee for a vehicle release is $30.00. Trucks/trailers/boats or any equipment attached $100.00
