Director: Michael Bowdler Jr. The mission of the City of River Rouge Department of Public Works is to enhance the quality of life for residents by maintaining and improving the City’s infrastructure, facilities, and public spaces in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner. Under the leadership of Director Michael Bowdler Jr., the Department is committed to delivering reliable services that support the daily needs of the community. The Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance of streets, sidewalks, municipal buildings, public grounds, and essential infrastructure systems. We work diligently to ensure safe roadways, effective stormwater management, timely snow and ice removal, and the upkeep of City-owned properties and equipment. Through careful planning, preventative maintenance, and responsible resource management, the Department strives to protect public investment while maintaining high standards of service, safety, and accountability. We are dedicated to serving the residents of River Rouge with professionalism, responsiveness, and pride in our community.

Mission Parks & Streets

Under the leadership of Kyle Campbell, of Parks and Streets, the City of River Rouge Parks & Streets Department is committed to maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming public spaces for residents, businesses, and visitors. The department works diligently to preserve the city’s parks, green spaces, roadways, and public infrastructure while enhancing the overall appearance and functionality of the community. Through proactive maintenance, seasonal operations, and responsive service, the department supports neighborhood pride, public safety, and quality of life. From park improvements and recreational areas to street maintenance and snow removal, the Parks & Streets Department plays a vital role in sustaining the daily operations and long-term development of River Rouge. The department remains dedicated to efficiency, accountability, and service excellence while supporting the City’s broader goals of community engagement, economic vitality, and environmental responsibility.

Bulk Pickup Information

Bulk pickup is available Monday through Friday. Residents must call 313-842-6482 and leave their address with the secretary or on voicemail before placing items at the curb.

Grass Bag Pickup

Grass bag pickup takes place on Monday afternoons only. No call-in is required for this service.
