The River Rouge Historical Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history and heritage of the City of River Rouge...
The museum is housed in a historic building located at 10750 West Jefferson Avenue in River Rouge.
The structure was originally built in 1928 by the Gallagher family, who operated the building as both a funeral home and living quarters.
In the late 1970s the funeral home closed and the building was later used by Whitehead & Kales Company and National Steel as a computer center.
In 1998 National Steel donated the building to the City of River Rouge, and it was reopened as the River Rouge Historical Museum.
Today the museum preserves artifacts, photographs, documents, and historical materials that reflect the people, industries, and events that shaped the River Rouge community.
